Okay, I believe we are live. Hello everybody, just give me a moment or two and I'll get started, just making sure everything is working fine. Okay, five o'clock in the UK, hello and welcome to today's live stream. My name is Uzair and today I'm going to go through some Google ads workflow hacks, how to make your workflow super fast, and give you some tips and tricks on how you can really make your life a lot easier when it comes to Google ads. If you are returning to this session, then welcome back, and if you are new, then a warm welcome to you. These sessions are informal and of course for free on YouTube and also on the various social media channels, where we record these and upload them afterward. If you have any questions, then please put them in the comment box on the right-hand side, and I'll try my best to answer them for you.
So what we are going to go through today is a really cool app, which is called Google Ads Editor. If you haven't come across this, then this is the best-kept secret on the internet because not many people know that this exists and the best of it is it's free, obviously as like most Google products and you can use it on both the Mac and the PC. So what this allows you to do is to make bulk changes and be able to work offline and then upload all the changes and things which you have done online. So there are two things we need to do, first of all, we can download all the data from the Google servers, or Google ad servers, make all the changes in the campaign, whatever you want, and then re-upload them at the click of a button.
As you'll see from this website it says, make changes across your campaigns with ease. It's no cost or is easily downloadable, and as you are working offline, you can save it and then come back to it, unlike in the interface where you could be in the middle of making a big number of changes, and then obviously your internet gets cut off, or you need to do something else. It's a lot easier to be able to do this in the editor, so you can work on your accounts offline, make bulk changes using the tools in the editor; you can review them obviously before you post them, and many more things which you can do, but it makes our lives super simple and easy.
The other good thing about the editor is because not many advertisers or people using Google ads know about this, they will just make the changes in the Google ads interface, and may not be able to scale the campaign the way you can, by using such a tool. So they will probably do a handful of campaigns or a handful of keywords they may use, but with an editor you can literally use dozens, or hundreds, or thousands of keywords without even breaking a sweat. Let's hop into our editor, I'm on a Mac, you can quite easily use it on a PC as well, you have a dark version, as well as the light one, I quite like the dark one, and this is what you're seeing right now on my screen.
Okay, now I think I had a question yesterday from Adam, who wanted me to show him...he was asking about how to create different keyword match types. If you've got loads of keywords, let's say you've got broad match keywords and you want to convert them into the exact match, phrase match, or broad modified, so let me show you that in here because you can quite easily do this without having to do them one at a time. I'm going to go into a spreadsheet and just copy a handful of keywords, if I can find my spreadsheet, that is, I've got so many windows opened up at the moment!
I think it's on the other window..nope, okay, let me open this up very quickly...In the meantime, if you do have any questions, then please put them in and I'll answer them for you. And I'd like to know those of you watching it live, are you using an editor or not, just give me a yes or a no. I'll know what you're missing out on if you're not using it okay. we're almost there, let's pick out that roofing contractor. Okay. I'll pick up a handful of them, that's your 70 odd? Not yet, you need to start using this, my friends! This is the best thing you can do when using Google ads.
Okay, Adam, was it you who asked yesterday about this, converting keywords? I think it was you, I may be wrong, I've forgotten. All right, I'm going to make a little ad group and I'm going to call this roofing contractor. It was you, okay, well I had this planned, so you asked this pretty much at the right time.! All right. So I've got these ad groups, I've got...I made one campaign, in here you can set up everything you need to do, budget, budget type, delivery, bids, and all that. I've created the ad group, and now I select that ad group, I'm going to go into my keywords, make multiple changes, and I'm going to use that selected.
Okay. Now you can see here 65 keywords in this ad group right, now the question which you ask Adam, and also a lot of people struggle with is, how do I convert all of these into the exact match, broad modified, or phrase match; because it will take you a fair amount of time, literally at least an hour or so, if you are quick that is, so what most people do is they don't bother. They don't bother to do two things, either use all of these keywords, or don't convert into other match types, you can convert them into, in the interface by checking all of them and switching them off, but with broad modified, you need to add that little plus sign in front of each word, right?
So here's what we do. Copy, select all of these keywords, and I want to change them to an exact match, and now I can see all of them have been converted into an exact match. Although you don't see the square brackets around the keyword, it doesn't matter because when it will upload, it's going to put those brackets before and at the end, but under here, I can see they're all as exact, right? Now I've done that, I want to copy the whole lot, paste them again, I've got these red warning signs over here, It will say that at the bottom of the screen if you can see it, this keyword has the same text and match type up as another keyword in this ad group, but whenever you see this red symbol, that means there's an error, or you hold the mouse over it and you get this description, right?
So I can quite easily turn them into phrases, although I'm getting another, not a warning, but kind of not an error message, but kind of like a warning. It says here, this keyword has the same text as another keyword, but with a different match type, which is fine, I'm happy with that, so I can ignore them, or I can get rid of it afterward. So now in this ad group, although I won't have that many keywords, I'm just showing you for demonstration and for showing you how quick and easy it is, but now I've got 130 keywords in my ad group. Now the tricky one is the broad modified, where everyone struggles to put that little plus sign in front of these words. So what I can do is I'm going to paste all of these again.
Then I need to select broad match first of all...you know what I might do, is separate them out for you guys, because that would be much easier...So now let's say I've got all keywords in here and I want to make three different ad groups run as, exact, phrase, and BMM, so how do I sort these out? And I'll put the plus sign in the BMM ad group, what I'll do then is I go in here and where is that match type gone? I want to select my exact match. So I can select the exact match.
Copy these, I go to my ad group, I can do it two ways, there are lots of ways you can do in here, and there are lots of shortcuts and there's no right way, or the wrong way, I can set up all the ad groups with the right keyword match types in one ad group, copy and paste-like I can do right now, and then go in the each one of these ad groups and delete the ones which are the wrong match type. That's the first way you can do that, now again I've got this error message, or warning sign, what I can do is, I can put this as exact, capitalize or don't capitalize is up to you, really doesn't matter.
Okay, now I've got three ad groups. Each one has got the same number of keywords, 195, 195, and 195. So now what I can do is, I can go in my exact match, the quickest way for me to delete, select these two, delete. If I get rid of that filter, I will only have exact match keywords in here, I can do the same in here, I've got match type and I want to delete the exact, and the phrase. Now imagine you're trying to do this with hundreds and thousands of keywords, It's pretty impossible to do that!
Now I will only have a phrase match in here. Now I can get rid of the exact and broad from here, phrase and exact, and just leave the broad match in here. Exact and phrase are selected, so now you can see in front of the keywords tab, you've got...take the filter out...65 keywords for BMM, 65 for a phrase, and 65 for exact, so I know that I have not deleted any keywords, so they're all the same. Now I want to put in those plus signs now, if you upload like this as broad match, it will upload as broad match. Select all, I then replace, find texts and replace, this is really cool, so what I want to do is, I want to add a plus sign before each word. So I want to put in find space and then replace it with space and a plus.
So it's done that, but we have a little bit of a problem, because there is no space before the first word, so you don't see any plus signs over here. You will see, plus, plus, plus, plus, plus, all of these are plus, right? So this is a two-step workflow or a process, then I go back in here again, I go to amend, and I go, and this is always in whatever the last word, or character you had put in, it will show up. Now you can put a, before the existing text or after existing text, I mean we never use that, but I don't know why they have this in, because I've never used it ever, you never put a plus at the end, but you might have, In fact, I take my words back, It could be that you want to add some additional texts afterward and make it into a different keyword, then that's a different matter, but for this, adding of the plus symbol, you hardly ever use this. Before existing text, and you've got all your broad modifieds, whether you've got 60, 600, or 6,000, all of these are done, and once I've added my ads to it, I can click the post, and then I will say that I'm uploading one campaign, three ad groups, 195 keywords, one location, which was in here, this was a test campaign anyway.
So this is how easy it is to change the match types of your keywords, now if you have any other questions or problems about Google Ads Editor, now's your chance to put those in the comment box on the right-hand side. But what I would also show you, if you really want to learn editor, I'm going to put a little plug of one of my courses here, because this is at a very discounted rate of $25 only. Right now these will go up, and so is this one, but this will show you and teach you pretty much everything you need to know about Google ads editor, and you have lots of different courses, chapters in here, how to set up a campaign, ad groups, keywords, audiences, pretty much everything you need to learn, on how to bulk set up campaigns and make changes. Okay. I'm going to go to the comment box.
"Is it easy to import existing campaigns, ad groups into editors?" Yeah, absolutely. But when I mentioned that you download before you make any changes, so you've got to get into a habit, every time you open up editor, you go to get recent changes, so whatever is there in the Google servers, you download all the campaigns and now it is downloading whatever is up there. So you will have that latest data, what you don't want to do is to...after you've downloaded here, you make some changes in the interface and then make some changes here and re-upload it, It may override the changes which you may have done in the interface. As long as you don't make any changes after you download it, now it's all done, all my campaigns have gone, come on my desktop.
I can then select which campaigns I want to see because if you've got loads of them and they will all come up here, they get in the way, right? So all you want to do is to focus on the ones which you want to see, and the same with all enabled, paused or removed ad groups, you can check them off, and that's what you're going to see over here. So now you don't need to do anything and you can make all the changes, you want to write ads, you want to, let's say you've got lots of hundreds of ads, that's also another easy way of making changes. Let's go into ads and you want to change the URL, you've got a new landing page or something like that, so just like we selected all the... Let's say the final URL is sfdigital.co.uk, it's my website...All I would do, is select all of them and I'll just copy, let's say I had an offer, which was a Christmas sale, and now we have discontinued the Christmas sale, and we want the spring sale to go on, which was in headline two, so now we can just put in spring sale now on, boom!
I want to change the landing page, let's say I'm sending them now to this page, which is a different one to the Christmas offer. All of these are now changed in one go, so this is the beauty of an editor, you can bulk change very quickly and effortlessly. Okay. Richard, "Do you use the editor for reports or just to make changes?" I tend to use it just for making changes, there is a way you can create and download the reporting and all the metrics here. I don't find it very easy to use, so for making changes, the report's editor in the editor is pretty good, and also you can use Google data studio to create your reports. Wesley, "Can you provide more detail about your YouTube course?" It's all on there on that landing page, It's got, I think about 20 hours worth of content on there, on video marketing. So you can read everything on there, I won't bore everybody to go through that, all you do is go to courses .sfdigital.co.uk, and once you click on that particular course, what you will learn, it will show you all the course curriculum, pretty much everything, so there are loads and loads of things in there.
Abby Dougal, Hello, Hi Abby, "Any of your videos cover smart bidding." I will be updating the Google ads Ninja course with the latest and the greatest, and I do upload new videos regularly because Google ads are changing all the time. So if you made a purchase, the new videos will be part of that course, so you will not be asked to pay again, you have got lifetime access to them, and if a particular video is not relevant anymore, so for example, two, three years ago when the new interface came along, I started shifting to the new interface and I removed all the old ones out from the course, because there's no point in looking and trying to learn on the old interface, so I keep on updating as we go along. Cool, so I think I've covered all the comments and questions. So thank you very much for being here today, and I shall be online tomorrow at five o'clock UK time, until then, stay safe, and I look forward to seeing you then, bye for now.
